Andres Galdamez Martinez
PhD
Postdoctoral Researcher
Photocatalytic materials
I hold a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering (2023) from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where I also completed my M.Sc. in Materials Science (2019) and B.Sc. in Physics (2017).
My research focuses on the optical and structural properties of semiconductor materials at the nanoscale, with applications in photocatalysis, gas sensing, and optical biosensing. I have extensive experience in advanced characterization techniques, including SEM, TEM, XRD, AFM, XPS, EDS, photoluminescence, and UV-Vis spectroscopy.
To date, I have authored 19 scientific publications, which have received over 930 citations (h-index: 11), and I am the inventor of a pending patent.
Alongside my research, I have worked as an Associate Professor at both UNAM and UAM, mentored undergraduate students, and organized scientific conferences. I am also dedicated to science outreach, regularly creating educational content and leading hands-on workshops.
Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oulu, Finland, where I work on the development of photocatalytic materials for sustainable hydrogen production.
