Christian Schuss

Christian Schuss is a University Lecturer in the Optoelectronics and Measurement Techniques (OPEM) Research Group at the University of Oulu, Finland. He received the Dipl.-Ing. (Hons.) degree in Information Technology in 2010 and the Dr. Techn. degree in Automotive Electronics in 2014 from Graz University of Technology, Austria. In 2017, he earned the D.Sc. (Tech.) degree in Electronics Design from the University of Oulu, Finland.

In addition to his engineering education, Dr. Schuss has pursued extensive studies in the humanities. He received the B.A. degree in German Philology from the Faculty of Humanities in 2023 and the M.A. degree in German Language and Culture in 2025 from the same faculty. In 2026, he began pursuing his third doctoral degree in the field of Humanities, reflecting his strong commitment to interdisciplinary research and lifelong learning.

Dr. Schuss's academic work bridges engineering, technology, education, and the humanities. His research interests include optoelectronic systems, measurement technologies, electronics design, artificial intelligence (AI), AI agents, AI augmentation in education and professional environments, virtual and immersive learning environments, and digital transformation in higher education. He is particularly interested in how emerging technologies can enhance learning, improve decision-making, and support innovative approaches to research, teaching, and human-technology interaction.

As an educator and researcher, he actively explores the integration of generative AI, intelligent tutoring systems, extended reality (XR), virtual learning environments, and modern pedagogical methods to create engaging and effective learning experiences. His interdisciplinary background enables him to connect technological innovation with broader cultural, linguistic, and societal perspectives, fostering collaboration across traditionally separate academic disciplines.

Combining expertise from multiple scientific fields with a strong dedication to teaching excellence, Dr. Schuss contributes to the advancement of both research and education through innovative, human-centered approaches that prepare students and professionals for a rapidly evolving digital future.
