Henri Olkoniemi

I am an Academy Research Fellow and Deputy Head of the Unit of Psychology at the University of Oulu. My research focuses on language comprehension and visual cognition, and I lead the Perception, Cognition, and Language Research Group. I am particularly interested in how people successfully understand one another despite often communicating indirectly, for example through figurative language, and in the factors that can lead to misunderstandings. To investigate these questions, I primarily use eye-tracking, often in combination with other laboratory-based methods.
