Ismail Celik is an Academy Research Fellow funded by the Research Council of Finland, currently based at the University of Oulu, Faculty of Education and Psychology. His work is situated at the intersection of educational technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and teacher education.

Dr. Celik's research focuses on understanding how teachers interact with AI-based technologies such as chatbots, generative AI tools, and learning analytics platforms. His expertise lies particularly in the integration of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework with AI ethics and teacher agency. His doctoral background and early research concentrated on both in-service and pre-service teachers’ use of instructional technology, forming a strong foundation for his current work on teacher-AI collaboration.

He is the principal investigator of the funded project titled “The Power of Teachers' Online Mentorship for AI Partnership (Power-T/A)”, which was accepted by the Research Council of Finland. This multi-year project (2024–2028) explores how teachers can act as mentors in digitally mediated, AI-supported environments, and how AI literacy and prompt engineering can enhance teacher agency and adaptive pedagogy.

Dr. Celik has published extensively on topics such as AI literacy, prompt engineering, learning analytics dashboards, and ethical considerations in AI integration. His recent publications include studies on the role of intelligent-TPACK in lesson design, systematic reviews of AI tools for supporting 21st-century skills, and investigations into teachers' trust and acceptance of AI systems in education. He also contributes to international research collaborations and scale development initiatives across diverse educational and cultural contexts.
