Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine

I am a Professor of Structural Biology as the Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine and I act as a coordinator for Biocenter Oulu Structural Biology core facility. My research focuses on ADP-ribosylation and on structural studies of the enzymes involved in the post-translational signaling mechanism. We also develop small molecule inhibitors interfering with the signaling mechanism, which are often misregulated in especially cancer cells. Such small molecules can be used to validate drug targets and could potentially lead to new therapeutics. I teach on topics related to protein science, structural biology and drug discovery at the faculty.
