Mehdi Monemi, Ph.D. is a Docent and Senior Researcher at the Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC), University of Oulu, Finland. He currently leads high-impact research at the intersection of advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and next-generation wireless networks, serving as the Project Manager for two major Business Finland-funded initiatives: Local6G (Local 6G Connectivity Solutions) and DigiPave (Digital Twin Enabled and Data Driven Pavement Maintenance Planning).
Dr. Monemi received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Communication Systems) from Shiraz University in 2014. He also holds an M.Sc. in Control Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University (2003) and a B.Sc. in Communication Systems from Shiraz University (2001). Before his current tenure, he was an Assistant Professor and Head of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Salman Farsi University of Kazerun, Iran, and a Funded Visiting Assistant Professor at York University, Toronto, Canada. His academic background is complemented by over a decade of industrial experience as project manager and head programmer for large-scale automation systems in various projects.
His research expertise encompasses the development of Digital Twins and World Models across various verticals, AI-enabled beamforming design for extremely large-scale antenna arrays (ELAA), and latent representation learning using Joint-Embedding Predictive Architectures (JEPA).
