I am a researcher in History of Sciences and Ideas. My research focuses on the historical interactions between medical, scientific, and spiritual/religious ideas and concepts. My work has explored the history of medicalization of suicide, social psychiatry, social engineering and, most recently, discourses on stress and obesity, highlighting the interplay between scientific knowledge, moral frameworks, and societal change. In teaching, I use lecture series of histories of suicide and psychiatry to examine and illustrate long-term developments in sciences, ideas and philosophy, from the antiquity to the modern era.

I have a Title of Docent of History of Sciences and Ideas at the University of Turku.
