I am a doctoral researcher in the Gaze on Lips? -project. We are using eye-tracking to investigate how gaze use is associated with speechreading success in typically hearing and hearing-impaired elementary school-aged children, and how speakers facial expressions affect speech reception using speechreading. My research aims to address the need for clinical knowledge on how to guide and rehabilitate speechreading and gaze use in hearing-impaired children. As part of the project, we will produce material for use on smart devices to enable self-paced training of speechreading skills using an app.
