As a biomedical optics engineer and researcher, and a doctoral candidate at the University of Oulu, My research focuses on developing the first MR-compatible fundoscopy device that can diagnose glaucoma and Alzheimer’s disease, two major causes of blindness and dementia. This device combines fundoscopy and MRI techniques to provide earlier and more accurate detection of these diseases, as well as improved access to eye screening. I have a strong background in camera development and image processing, and I have invented several devices for biomedical optics applications, such as fluorescence imaging and capillaroscopy devices. Great working experience as a manager and operator for a preclinical imaging company, and as an R&D manager for a biomedical optics company. In addition, I have teaching experience in the fields of biomedical optics and image processing for master’s and PhD students. My latest publication in Nature Communications describes the development of synchronous multimodal imaging tools for measuring the driving pulsations of the human eye, using an eye-tracking functional eye camera (FEC) compatible with MRI.
