Catchment Hydrology
Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering
Faculty of Technology
Omar is a doctoral researcher in hydrology at the Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering Research Unit, University of Oulu. His research examines how land management alters hydrological connectivity in peat-dominated catchments, and how these changes shift runoff generation mechanisms. He uses physically based, integrated surface–subsurface models to resolve these process changes, and develops calibration approaches that incorporate water isotope data to better constrain simulated flow paths and runoff sources.
Omar holds a BSc in Water Engineering and Hydraulic Structures from Ain Shams University and an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s in Applied Ecohydrology (MAEH), completed across four European universities.
