Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering
Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering research unit (WE3) carries out high class research in the field of environmental technology, with a focus on water and energy. Climate change and energy transition are great challenges, and our research aims to find sustainable solutions to these issues. Our research covers hydrological process studies in watersheds, water quality issues, microbiological studies for water treatment and protection. WE3 integrates system level research of water-land-energy resources, modelling and sustainability assessments. In urban areas our research offers safe and sustainable solutions to water, waste water and energy supply.
There is five specific, research groups in WE3 . The links below will lead you to the pages of the individual research groups, where you can find out more information about the work done in each group.
Our unit employs about 80 persons, most of whom belong to research and teaching staff. You can get to know who we are and what we do by checking out our staff profiles below. Our e-mail addresses are usually in the form of firstname.lastname@oulu.fi.
