I am a licensed medical doctor in Brazil and hold two master's degrees, one in Collective Health, with a focus on the Epidemiology of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), and another in Health Informatics.
My epidemiology training provided me with quantitative expertise and statistical skills applied to public health. This included conducting an ecological time-series study on hospitalizations for mental and behavioral disorders due to alcohol use in Brazil. I also carried out a cross-sectional study examining the relationship between serum vitamin D concentration and subclinical atherosclerosis in adults from southern Brazil.
To bridge the gap between epidemiological research and real-world digital health solutions, I transitioned into health informatics. In my Health Informatics master's program, I developed a prototype application for the post-operative cardiac care period. The app connects patients with medical doctors and nurses and is based on principles of Persuasive Technology and Persuasive Systems Design (PSD).
My research lies at the intersection of health, technology, and behavior change.
I am particularly interested in Persuasive Technology, PSD, Health Behavior Change Support Systems (HBCSS), Health Informatics, and Quantitative Research Methods.
Currently, I investigate which psychological traits and PSD features have the most significant impact on behavior and health outcomes.
My goal is to identify how digital interventions can effectively support behavior change processes, ultimately improving the treatment and prevention of NCDs, including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and related risk factors such as obesity.
