Satu Pitkäaho completed the Master of Science (Technology) and Doctor of Science (Technology) degrees in Process Engineering at the University of Oulu in 2007 and 2013, respectively. She became Docent in Environmental engineering – especially heterogeneous catalysis in VOC abatement and water purification – in 2021. She is currently working as the Environmental Engineering Study Programme Director at the Faculty of Technology and University Lecturer in the Environmental and Chemical Engineering Research Unit. She also works as the Programme Director in NJIT-Oulu School Environmental Engineering Bachelor Programme. Her current research interests include environmental catalysis, especially in industrial emission abatement, wastewater treatment, carbon dioxide utilization, and hydrogen production.
