Tanja Riekkinen

Tanja Riekkinen is a doctoral researcher in History with a research focus on the history of oil, energy, and energy transitions. She is also a course director in the Scandinavian Studies Programme at the University of Oulu.

Riekkinen has been awarded 159 900 EUR in personal research funding, project funding, scholarships and prizes. Her BA and MA theses were graded with Pass with Distinction and both won the best thesis of the academic year prize awarded by the Department of History at the University of Oulu. Previously, she was a project researcher in a project assigned by the University of Oulu Academics.

She has experience in planning, delivering and evaluating basic courses in environmental humanities, environmental history and history as well as in co-developing and co-directing a multidisciplinary basic course.

Riekkinen serves in several national and international boards and committees aiming to develop the academia.
