Tanja Riekkinen is a researcher specializing in the history of energy transitions, oil and climate. In her doctoral dissertation, Imagining Petrofutures: Sociotechnical Imaginaries of Energy Transition to Oil in Finland, 1949–1973, she explores how politicians envisioned Finland’s energy futures. Her doctoral research has been funded by the Kerttu Saalasti Foundation, Otto A. Malm Foundation, Kone Foundation, Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation, the University of Oulu Graduate School and the University of Oulu Grant Fund.
Riekkinen has taught in the Scandinavian Studies minor programme since 2021. In addition, she has been actively involved in several academic associations and committees.
