Teemu Leppänen

Dr. Teemu Leppänen is currently university lecturer with the Center for Ubiquitous Computing. His teaching activities include embedded systems programming for IoT, computer systems and distributed systems. His research interests include Internet of Things edge and mist computing, with focus on distributed AI methods and solutions. Another topic in his research is building real-world IoT applications and systems in smart urban environments. Since 2010, he has participated in 16 regional, national and international research projects, funded by national organizations and the European Union, with partners in EU, Japan and China. He has visited the Institute of Industrial Science, the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 2012-2013 and the University of Calabria, Italy, in 2019. He has authored ~60 peer-reviewed articles in journals, research books and international conferences, where he has received three best paper awards. He is Senior Member of IEEE.
