Ufuk Topalan
MSc
Doctoral Researcher
I am a PhD researcher working in the project Developing a Genomic Blueprint for a Bio-literate Future
My academic background is in evolutionary and population genomics, with a strong focus on molecular biodiversity research. During my MSc studies, I worked on landscape and evolutionary genomics of an endemic bush-cricket species, investigating adaptation to elevational gradients and environmental variation.
Currently, my PhD research focuses on parasitoid wasps (Braconidae), where I combine DNA barcoding, genomic data, and bioinformatics to study cryptic diversity, species boundaries, and large-scale patterns of biodiversity. My work aims to improve taxonomic resolution and support biodiversity research in the context of global change.
I actively use computational and reproducible research workflows, and I share code, scripts, and analysis pipelines on GitHub:
