Ville Kaikkonen works as a project researcher at the University of Oulu. He specializes in the application of digital holographic imaging in environmental measurement techniques. Currently Kaikkonen is completing his doctoral studies in photonics at the Optoelectronics and Measurement Engineering Research Unit.
In his doctoral research, he focuses in particular on developing new sensor solutions for accurate measurement of rain and cloud properties. The methods developed have found applications in connection with wind turbines, for example.
