Enhancing cerebrospinal fluid flow by blood pressure lowering and whole-body vibration

One of the most important functions of the cerebrospinal fluid is the facilitation of brain clearance by removing the metabolites it produces. This function can be significantly weakened, for example by hypertension. In my PhD thesis, I show how acute blood pressure lowering and whole-body vibration enhance the clearance of circulating brain metabolites via the cervical lymphatic pathway in mice. The clinical impact of my findings might be great for example in preventing neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.
