Publication analyses used in the recruitment of the University of Oulu
Publication analyses
In connection with the tenure track and professorship recruitments of the University of Oulu, applicants are subjected to publication analyses based on their publication lists. Analyses will only be performed on applicants who agree to be the subject of the analysis. The analysis is always based on the publication list of the applicant, which is why it is important for the applicant to provide a comprehensive list of publications in connection with the application.
The analysis covers many dimensions of publishing, although there are some differences in the content of the analysis used in different disciplines.
In all disciplines, the following is analysed based on the publication list:
- production of publications
- production of other research outputs
- openness of publications using the Unpaywall service
- online visibility of publications (altmetrics) using the Altmetric.com service
The latter two sections of the analysis are performed using the DOIs of the publications, which is why applicants should also indicate the DOIs of the publications in their publication list.
In those disciplines where the Scopus database indexes a sufficient proportion of publications, the Scopus database and the related SciVal analysis tool are also used in the analyses. These analyses are also based on the publication list of the applicant. In this section, the following is analysed:

- collaboration
- top cited articles
