Challenges and Opportunities in M2M/IoT: A Business Perspective

Infotech Oulu Lecture Series Lecturer: Distinguished Chief Technologist Sudhir Dixit, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Services Date: Friday, June 26, 2015Time: 10-12Room: TS101   Bio https://www.linkedin.com/pub/sudhir-dixit/55/923/b65 Abstract In this talk, we present the deep impact that M2M and IoT devices have on the business processes of the customers (both consumers and the enterprises) and the worldwide business opportunities they present to the manufacturers of the devices, systems and solution providers. Then we dive into the key technology directions and discuss the key standards that will drive the adoption and the adoption rate of IoT and M2M, continuing on to explaining what the IoT deployments will require and how it is  going to shape up in two dimensions: industry verticals and technology & services. After discussing how IoT will be deployed, we spend some time zeroing in on what M2M and IoT opportunities mean for the communication service providers, i.e., telcos. Finally, we conclude the talk by presenting who the dominant IoT players are today and what is going to happen next now!
