The written maturity examination is a compulsory part of both the Bachelor of Science degree and the Master of Science degree. It is an essay in which students demonstrate their familiarity with the topic of their thesis as well as their academic writing skills in their native language.
The maturity examination is an analytical essay about a theme related to the student's BSc thesis. In the essay the student should present and analyse the data, methods and results of his/her thesis in a coherent manner. The length of the maturity examination in the BSc degree is approximately four hand-written pages (or approximately 500 words). No credit points are awarded for completing the maturity examination.
