Biography

I have graduated from Biochemistry in 1996 and obtained Ph.D. in Plant Physiology in 2001 from University of Oulu. I have gained post-doctoral experience during 2001- 2004 at Purdue University, IN, USA, and obtained Adjunct Professorship in 2004 at University of Oulu. During 2006-2011 I hosted the reputable Research Fellow position of the Academy of Finland. In 2016, I was the candidate for Scientist of the Year in Finland. Currently I have a list of 132 publications (65 peer-reviewed), 8 patent applications/invention disclosures and 5 book editions. In addition, I am an editor in the journals Frontiers in Microbiology and Plant and Soil, and the co-founder of Chain Antimicrobials Ltd. I have supervised 3 Ph.D. theses and, among others, coordinated five major consortia / projects; NAM (New Antimicrobials) and the TEJAM funded by FP7, FAR funded by Business Finland (Tekes), as well as the Methylobacterium and INCELL projects funded by the Academy of Finland.
