Biography

Dr. Erkki Harjula is a postdoctoral researcher and a project manager in the CWC-NS research group. Previously he has worked for Center for Internet Excellence (CIE) (2013-2015), and for MediaTeam (2000-2014) research groups. He visited Prof. Henning Schulzrinne’s Internet Real-time Laboratory (IRT) at Columbia University during winter 2008-2009. Dr. Harjula has background in mobile and IoT networks, distributed networks, cloud and edge computing, and green computing. Throughout his career, he has worked on P2P computing in his early projects, then in massive-scale M2M and energy-efficient computing, and most recently in projects related to Industrial IoT, edge computing and artificial intelligence. He completed his doctoral thesis related to energy-efficient decentralized computing for IoT environments in 2016. Dr. Harjula has also a long history of preparing, managing and coordinating research projects.
