Helena Tukiainen works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Geography Research Unit. Her research focuses on geodiversity-biodiversity dynamics, nature conservation and the spatiality of natural resources. Methodologically, she is concentrated in quantitative approaches, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and statistical analyses. She defended her doctoral thesis "Multi-scale relationship between geodiversity and biodiversity across high-latitude environments: implications for nature conservation" in May 2019. Currently she is working in a project "Spatial Inference on Oil and Economic Development".
