Karin Väyrynen

Karin Väyrynen

Karin Väyrynen is a university lecturer in the INTERACT research unit, and Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the University of Oulu. She has a background in Information Systems (IS) research, with a focus on communication and collaboration in a variety of contexts. In her Ph.D. thesis, she studied software business in industrial organizations, and later on has investigated global virtual team management. Her current research focus is on digital transformation on an industry-level, and more specifically on the digitalization of the Finnish taxi industry and the effect of public policy making on digital transformation. Väyrynen has co-supervized several Ph.D. thesis in the area of connected health. She has mainly employed in-depth qualitative research methods and has broad experience in interpretive qualitative research and analysis. She has participated in several EU-funded projects. Her research has been published in leading IS conferences and journals.
