Remote desktops and VPN

If you do not have a VPN client or you are unable to create the eduvpn profile needed by the OpenVPN Connect client, you will get a secure connection to the university network from outside it via the VPN Portal. In this case, the VPN connection is obtained through the window of the web browser, but there are very limited functionality in comparison with the use of the client.
NOTE: If you sign in the VPN Portal with your user account and password (light authentication), the remote desktops are not available.
Strong SMS authentication
The use of the university's information systems and remote desktops is possible through the VPN Portal, if you use a disposable passcode in addition to your user account and password (strong authentication).
- You receive a passcode as a text message, if you have set your mobile number in the service https://account.oulu.fi/vpn. You are identified through Suomi.fi e-Identification service.
- Only the numbers of domestic operators can be used.
