Archived Moodle courses ending in year 2021 or earlier will be removed from the Moodle environment at the end of year 2022
The archiving process of Moodle courses
The teacher determines how long a Moodle course is open/visible for students. After the course is completed, many teachers archive the Moodle course when all activities on the Moodle course have ended. After archiving, the Moodle course is switched to reading mode in the faculty archive category.
How to identify an archived Moodle course:
- The name of the archived Moodle course ends with the course start date / end date (in the format year-month-day).
- The archived Moodle course is located in the Archive category and on the course front page of the course: ARCHIVE.
An automatic removal process for archived Moodle courses from Moodle learning environment
The University of Oulu has an automatic removal process for archived Moodle courses. Archived Moodle courses will be removed from Moodle environment at the end of the calendar year following the Moodle course end date (i.e. Moodle courses marked as ending in 2021 or earlier will be removed from the Moodle environment at the end of year 2022).
Saving your own works from an archived Moodle course
It is recommended to save your works in addition to a Moodle course also for example to your own workstation or OneDrive etc.
Student portfolio
If you want to create a ”portfolio” of all the works you have produced during your studies, you can create a portfolio by using for example Office 365 Education (O365) and Google Workspace for Education services provided by the university of Oulu. If you want to use your works after your studies, you should choose a service to which you have an access also after your studies.
