Finnish Academy of Technical Sciences acts as a bridge-builder between science, economic life and decision-making. It brings together top experts in the field, supports the commercialization of research and strengthens the international competitiveness of Finnish technical-scientific fields. At the same time, it promotes sustainable development both nationally and internationally.
The election meeting was held on May 26, 2025, at the Museum of Technology. The meeting elected 17 new members of the Academy, who represent various fields of technology in various ways and hold significant positions in both academic community and industry.
Science academies are independent academic communities. They invite their members based on scientific merits. The task of science academies is to promote scientific research and its appreciation in society. Science academies take positions on current scientific and societal issues, publish publications, award grants and organize events.
There are four science academies in Finland: Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, The Finnish Society of Sciences and Letters, The Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and Finnish Academy of Technical Sciences. The union of the science academies is The Council of Finnish Academies, which is responsible for relations with international scientific organizations and promotes the impact of science.
