Welcome to the Cinema Club!

Would you like to get enchanted by movies and their worlds? Welcome to the second Cinema club event on September 28! The club meetings feature an expert-driven discussion in addition to a movie screening.

The Cinema club continues after a successful first event back in August!

This time the club will be diving into a world of fantasy by watching Pan’s Labyrinth (Guillermo del Toro, 2006). The story takes place in post-Civil War Spain and the story intertwines the real world with a mythical world. A young girl, Ofelia, uses her imagination to escape reality and finds a mystical abandoned labyrinth.

During this event, professor Julia Jäkel will join us to watch the movie and engage in the discussion about it. Julia Jäkel is a Professor of Developmental and Clinical Psychology with research expertise in long-term consequences of early childhood adversity and trauma. She has studied many at-risk populations in different countries, including Germany, the United States, New Zealand, and Bolivia.

The purpose of the Cinema Club is to enjoy movies, but also to have enriching discussions and deeper understandings of the themes.

The Cinema Club meetings are held monthly, and in English.

See the detailed timetable and upcoming meetings in the club’s digital pamphlet. Welcome!
