The University of Oulu offers students two sub-subjects in cooperation with other Finnish universities: the Digital Commerce Studies and the LITO Basic Business Studies minor.
Digital Commerce Online Studies
The Digital Commerce online study module is implemented in cooperation with four other universities.
Retailing is a significant business sector and a large employer in Finland. Digitalisation is strongly impacting the sector and the expertise needed from employees. The Studies on Digital Retailing and E-Commerce offer students a holistic view of digital retailing and e-commerce and the significant transformation of the whole sector. The courses are tightly connected with practice. They help the student achieve both theoretical and practical knowledge base for working in the retailing sector. This improves the employability of the student. During the courses, students will familiarise themselves with digital retailing and e-commerce in a holistic manner from procurement and purchasing to logistics and customer behaviour, branding and digital marketing.
The module includes several courses of study, some of which are held in English.
The first course of study in the minor subject Management of procurement and supplier relations in the commerce sector (6 ECTS) starts at the turn of August-September. It is possible to register for the course until 17 August 2026.

Basic Business Studies LITO
Basic Business Studies LITO is organised in cooperation with nine universities.
In today’s business life, experts from multiple different fields must work together in projects and teams. Seamless cooperation calls for the understanding of business dependencies and logic as well as knowledge of focal concepts. The Basic Business Studies module (aka LITO) offers students the opportunity to complement their knowledge and enhance their working-life skills. During the courses, students will learn about the ways in which companies operate and the factors that influence their actions.
After completing the courses, students will understand how a company operates as an entity and will be able to evaluate their own roles as experts in an entity. Students will be competent in applying the focal concepts of business and economics in their own work. In addition, students will be able to solve problems together with a diverse team. LITO also develops change management and the working-life skills that are identified as being important, such as problem solving and project management skills, self-direction and digital competence.
The module includes several courses of study, some of which are held in English.
For the first course of study in a minor subject Introduction to Accounting and Financial Management, 5 ECTS must be registered by 26 August 2026.
