What does diversity or inclusion mean in the University? Join us and find out!
The goal is an inclusive and accessible university community where everyone feels a sense of belonging and where there is a culture of appreciation and trust.
"Discrimination isn't solely racist slurs, but an environment in which not everyone is included"
What does it all mean, then? Join the Diversity and inclusion at the University event and find out!
The event is open to the entire university community, and will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, from 9 am to 12 pm on the Tellus Stage. The event can also be watched remotely.
At the beginning of the event, diversity specialist Sara Salmani opens the DEI terminology (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) and explains the starting points for considering diversity and promoting inclusion in the university community. Questions and attitudes related to language and language skills are also at the center when the goal is an inclusive university community.
After her presentation, Salmani facilitates an intriguing panel discussion focusing on how to promote inclusion in the university community. Taina Pihlajaniemi, Vice Rector for Research and chairperson of the Equality and Diversity Committee; Jarmo Okkonen, HR Director; Mervi Heikkinen, university lecturer; Juan-Miguel Diaz Castro, university teacher; Essi Leinonen, OYY's social policy specialist and Linda Omodara, postdoctoral researcher, will take part in the panel discussion.
Read more about the event on its own page and register to attend! You can participate onsite at Tellus Stage or join online. Registration closes on 13th of February 2023.
