Project description

OpenDigiTaito - Teacher's educator's digital pedagogical competence and learning skills in learning communities is a development project of teacher education coordinated by the Learning and Educational Technology Research Unit (LET) of the University of Oulu. The project partners are Faculty of Art and Design from the University of Lapland and School of Applied Educational Science and Teacher Education from the University of Eastern Finland.

The project aims to develop the professional and pedagogical skills of the teacher educators. The core idea of OpenDigiTaito is to blend teacher educators' expertise and plan, implementate and evaluate courses. The OpenDigiTaito’s focus areas - learning skills, digital pedagogical competence and collaborative learning competences - are implemented both to teacher educators collaboration and to planned courses.

Project actions

The main activities are

  1. Design, implement and evaluate the research-based teacher education courses.
  2. To develop teacher education courses in learning communities.
  3. To develop a digital pedagogical strategy for teacher education.

The project is grounded on the results of previous teacher education development projects (e.g. OpenDigi) and research projects (e.g. PREP21).
