Project leader

Tuija Mainela, Professor of International Business. As the leader of the research project, she has created essential collaborations in the health care ecosystem in the Oulu area and internationally with respect to the researchers of public-private innovation. She is a well-established researcher of international entrepreneurship and business networks but has also done multidisciplinary research and is collaborating with health administration researchers.

Co-leader

Pia Hurmelinna-Laukkanen, Professor of Marketing. Her main research interests are innovation appropriability and appropriation, innovation management, innovation network orchestration, internationalization and innovation. As the co-leader of the project, she has created strong collaborations in the field of open innovation that will be a crucial basis for international data collection and collaborative analysis.

PIs

Juha Tuunainen, Professor of Management (organizational behaviour). His research has covered a range of research areas stretching from organizational sociology to science, technology and innovation studies, and higher education research.

Sari Laari-Salmela, Associate Professor. She is specialized in strategy processes and practices and brings to the research her expertise in the theoretical approaches of participation and meaningful work in management and organization studies to uncover processes of relational empowerment inside the health care organizations.

Jialei Yang, Assistant Professor. Her research interests include innovation management (especially innovation appropriability and open innovation) and network management. Her research addresses dynamics in value creation, value appropriation, and inter-organizational collaborations, set in contexts such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and health care.
