Izzi Group

Welcome to the official webpage of the Izzi group on Bioinformatics and Data Analysis!
We focus on the development of new algorithms for studying molecular networks in cancer, perform integrative analyses of the tumor microenvironment, with particular emphasis on the role of the extracellular matrix and we provide bioinformatics and data analysis as a service to our collaborators & partners.

Research group description

Our group was formed in 2020, when Valerio (Izzi, PhD) was tenured in the Profi-5 call from the University of Oulu. Our group belongs to the Faculty of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine and includes Postdocs, Doctoral and Master students from diverse backgrounds (including but not limited to, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine, Medicine, and Applied Mathematics). The group is also integrated with the Research Group on Conserved Collagen at the Faculty of Biochemistry and the Infotech Institute at the University of Oulu.

We strive to produce transformative research with an active interest in the field of tumor systems biology. We love novel, asymmetric thinking and take on a myriad biological questions and try to model the tumor - matrisome interface in varying degrees of complexity.

Have an idea and wish to collaborate with us? Write to us! We'd love to hear from you!
