Abolfazl Moradian

I am a doctoral researcher in the Sustainable Energy Business (SEB) group at the University of Oulu’s Kerttu Saalasti Institute, working on the EU co-funded ARVO project under the supervision of Teresa Haukkala and Janne Härkönen. My research explores how local SMEs in Northern Finland can integrate into large green-transition supply chains and prevent regional "value leakage".

To achieve this, I am developing a spatial decision-support system (SDSS) that combines multi-criteria supplier evaluation with GIS-based capacity clustering. This data-driven approach enables smaller, geographically proximate SMEs to aggregate their capacities and collectively meet the high-volume demands of global EPC contractors.

I hold an MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management from LUT University. My funded master's thesis analyzed green practice adoption among 58 regional companies, providing a strong foundation for my current focus on building sustainable and collaborative local business ecosystems.
