Annaliza Cainglet

I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering Research Unit, University of Oulu, Finland. My doctoral research focused on Environmental Pollution Management through wastewater (from multiple sources) treatment: evaluation of processes, by-products, and its vital role in Circular Economy, particularly in resource management and recovery.

My postdoctoral project investigates the potential of chemically enhanced primary treatment (CEPT) of wastewater for energy recovery after anaerobic digestion of the produced sludge, and the impact of carbon redirection on the nutrient removal capacity of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). Additionally, I am involved in investigating pollutant (e.g., micropollutants) removal in centralised WWTPs and the impact of these contaminants on the receiving environment.

The postdoctoral research also includes the evaluation of systems/processes improving biological processes (activated sludge unit) within the WWTP.
