Erdi AVCI
Ph.D. (Geological Engineering)
Erdi Avcı is a Postdoctoral Researcher in Fiber and Particle Engineering at the University of Oulu. He holds a Ph.D. in Geological Engineering from İstanbul University-Cerrahpasa and a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering. His doctoral research focused on investigating the expansion mechanisms of clay-rich sludge waste generated during aggregate washing processes, particularly examining how thermal treatment influences mineralogical transformations and contributes to their expansion behavior. He is currently conducting a The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK)-funded postdoctoral project aimed at producing lightweight and structural concrete using thermally treated aggregates derived from quarry sources. In addition to this work, his expertise includes durability assessment of aggregates, and the characterization and utilization of clay-rich quarry wastes as supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). His research contributes to sustainable construction practices by promoting the reuse of mineral waste and enhancing concrete performance.
