Kirsi Laurén

I am a Senior Lecturer in cultural heritage. I started working at the University of Oulu in the fall of 2023. I am responsible for the cultural heritage minor studies that consists of basic studies (25 ECTS), and intermediate studies (35 ECTS). I teach and do research.

In my research I am particularly interested in cultural heritage connected to mires and bogs, the ways in which this heritage has evolved over time, and how digitalisation is reshaping interactions between humans and the natural world. In addition, in recent years, I have studied the traumatic and violent experiences endured by children and adolescents in their home surroundings, especially along Finland's eastern border during and after World War II.
