Maarit Leskelä

My work as a researcher focusing on themes related to occupational well-being. In my doctoral dissertation, which is rooted in applied linguistics and the study of pedagogical change, I examined interaction between Finnish and German-speaking teachers within the context of educational export. In my research on technology-enhanced interaction intertwined with school digitalization, I utilized nexus analysis and mediated discourse analysis. These theoretical and methodological approaches enable a profound examination of individual agency and social practices within changing operational environments.

In addition to my research, I have an extensive background in daily school life, having worked for several years as a teacher and in school leadership positions, as well as a teacher educator. I have been particularly responsible for developing the special education professional competencies of future special education teachers, spanning from early childhood education to adult education. This solid practical experience provides my research with a pragmatic perspective that helps understand the constraints and development needs of the work, and to build solutions that function in real-world learning environments.

Multilingualism, understanding neurodiversity, promoting accessibility, and inclusive pedagogy are strongly emphasized in my educational work and expertise. My goal is to generate knowledge and practical models that support teaching and guidance, promote equal learning opportunities, and thereby strengthen the well-being of the entire work community.
