Maria Julku

The subject of my ongoing doctoral research (in Finnish) is The Crown and Stewards as Wielders of Power in Early 17th Century Ostrobothnia. By using the point of view of personal agency, my research enhances the understanding of early modern administration on the northern periphery, as well as of the role of stewards as office-holders.

I act as the secretary for Transcultural Encounters Research Center, a multidisciplinary research center of the Faculty of Humanities.I belong to the editorial board of Ennen ja nyt, an open access journal for research in history and related disciplines.
