Marika Paalanne

My special area of scientific expertise is early life determinants of lifelong health. My early research interests were about cardiovascular risk factors in young adults born preterm. My current research interests are the effects of gut microbiome in infants and early antibiotic exposure on the health in the childhood, especially on the risk of overweight, obesity and autoimmune diseases. I also work as pediatrician and pediatric endocrinologist in Oulu University Hospital.
