The aim of my doctoral research is to develop and implement a patient-centered telephone education intervention for day surgery and evaluate its impact on patients’ experienced health and health care costs.

The importance of telephone education in day surgery has increased significantly. Telephone education should be based on research evidence, but there is insufficient evidence of the current state of day surgery education and its systematic development, information on high-quality and effective proactive telephone education, and patient-centered education. The aim of the research is to meet the challenges related to telephone education and to develop an effective nursing intervention that is patient-centered and supportive of self-care.
