Recep Kurtulus

PhD
Visiting Postdoctoral Researcher

Fibre and Particle Engineering
Faculty of Technology

Dr. Kurtulus started in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at Anadolu University (named after Eskisehir Technical University) and held a BSc degree in 2013.

Then, he started his professional career as a glass manufacturing engineer at LAV Tableware Glass in Türkiye. While working until 2018, he completed his master's thesis in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at Kütahya Dumlupınar University. He studied the quality enhancement of tableware glass products by controlling redox reactions during the glass melting process.

In 2018, Dr. Kurtulus moved his professional career to the academy, and he has still been working as a permanent researcher in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at Afyon Kocatepe University. During his academic career here, he pursued his doctoral thesis on "High-density Borotellurite Glass System Containing Heavy Oxides Against Gamma Rays."

As of May 2023, Dr. Kurtulus has been researching EAF slags and their dissolution characteristics using different irradiation techniques in the Fibre and Particle Engineering Unit.

His research interests include glass synthesis, radiation shielding, materials chemistry, and, recently, irradiation effects on dissolution enhancement and surface chemistry.
