Sami Ghordoyee Milan

Sami has a research background in the field of surface and groundwater resource management in arid and semi-arid regions. His research interests include optimization of water resource systems, systems thinking in water resource management, and understanding the water resource system and its challenges. His expertise includes the use of numerical models in surface and groundwater simulation. The development of numerical-machine learning models is one of the tools that he believes can help simulate and predict water resource systems. He graduated from the University of Tehran in 2016 in the field of Water Resources Management in Iran.
He recently (August 2025) joined the University of Oulu and the Department of Water, Energy and Environmental Engineering for a PhD researcher. His project is in the field of water resources management and smart agriculture and digital twins in Finland. The research objectives of this project will be to simulate and predict soil moisture using numerical models, machine learning, and time-series measurements in forest and farm fields. He is currently working on this project under the supervision of Professor Torabi Haghighi and Dr. Rasti.

Defining and understanding the word "problem" correctly solves much of it. System thinking is essential for such an understanding.
