Seija Jalagin

I am a Senior Lecturer in history at the University of Oulu, and an Adjunct Professor (Docent) of cultural interaction in history (University of Turku). I have published on gender history, particularly on women in Protestant missions and on gendered stereotypes. My current research focuses on forced migration in Finnish history, 1920-1950. It belongs to a larger project 'Recognition and belonging: forced migrations, troubled histories and memory cultures' (ReBel). This multidisciplinary project was funded by the Academy of Finland in 2017-2021, and is currently working on publications of the research. In addition, we have worked in cooperation with a group of artists on war, refugees and memory and produced two art and historical exhibitions in 2020.
