Academy Research Fellow
I am a physical geographer and plant community ecologist working as an Academy Research Fellow at the Geography Research Unit. My research examines long‑term biodiversity change in northern environments, with a particular focus on boreal forests, mountain birch forests, and tundra ecosystems. I aim to understand how climate change, land use change, and abiotic diversity (geodiversity) shape biodiversity and vegetation dynamics and what consequences these changes have for ecosystems.
In my current project, I explore less studied and unknown dimensions of high‑latitude biodiversity change and investigate how links between biodiversity and geodiversity can support biodiversity research and conservation.
Research interests
- Long-term vegetation changes
- High-latitude plant communities
- Link between biodiversity and geodiversity
