Fab Lab Oulu in FabXLive

Fab Lab Oulu will participate in two different workshops at FabXLive event, this year's global and online Fab Lab Network conference. Attendance to the different sessions is for free. In particular, Iván Sánchez Milara, instructor at Fab Lab Oulu and researcher at Center for Ubiquitous Computing will particpate in two different workshops: 

This panel discussion, moderated by Sonya Pryor-Jones (Fab Foundation, SCOPES-DF) introduces different communities from all over the world, built around a common interest for education, digital fabrication,  and cultural exchange. During the panel we will dialogue about the creation of the communities and their everyday activities. We will also discuss on opportunities and challenges posed by those communities' day-to-day activities. The last part of the panel discussion is reserved to present how the communities faced the COVID pandemic and how did they adapted their activities to the new situation.

 During the last two years, Fab Lab Oulu has been involved in building a community of practice on education, digital fabrication and STEAM in the northern city of Oulu, Finland (http://www.steaminoulu.fi/in-english/). One of the core activities, lead by Fab Lab Oulu, has been training of teachers in digital fabrication. For two years in a row we have been educating teachers on digital fabrication processes, working not only with technical aspects but putting lot of emphasis also in pedagogics. During the workshop, I will introduce the structure and organization of the training, present main learnings and discuss on positive and negative aspects on the training.
