Do you want to fabricate a remote controlled tripod to show your lab remotely? Would you need a translational microscopic stage for your research, but you could not find funding to buy one? Are you a fan of Harry Potter and you have always wanted to build a Weasly Clock to locate members of your family? Ken's tele 5g tripodTatiana's microscopic stage and Xin Hui's version of Weasly Clock  are real projects build by our last two years Fab Academy students.

If you would like to learn how to use Fab Lab equipment to build similar or totally different projects  you can attend Fab Academy

Fab Academy is an intensive five-month program that teaches students to envi sion, design and prototype projects using digital fabrication tools and machines. The Fab Academy brings together a multi-disciplinary and hands-on learning
experience that can be taken in a Fab Lab; at it’s core, Fab Academy empowers students to learn by doing, inspires them to make stu locally, and encourages them to become active participants in sustainable cities and communities.  Fab Academy offers a distributed educational model: students learn in local workgroups (Fab Labs), with peers, mentors, and machines, which are then connected globally by content sharing and video for interactive classes, forming a network of 250 students in more than 65 Fab Labs.

The course is directed by Neil Gershenfeld from MIT’s Center For Bits and Atoms and based on MIT’s rapid prototyping course: How to Make (Almost) Anything.

If you want to learn more about Fab Academy, we are organizing an information event hybrid mode: online and face-to-face in Fab Lab Oulu next Tuesday(21.12.2021) at 16.00.  We will explain there what is actually Fab Academy, what you will learn there, and answer all your questions.
