Niina Kotavaara is interested in issues related to the attractiveness of regions, as part of the dynamics of regional development and regional policy. In her doctoral thesis, she studies the inter-regional and international mobility of skilled, highly educated workforce and the factors affecting it in Finland. In addition, Kotavaara works as a project researcher in the Kerttu Saalasti Institute's project "Co-learning knowledge management of the changing Northern Ostrobothnia 2030 ".
