Seija Jalagin

I am a Senior Lecturer in history at the University of Oulu, and an Adjunct Professor (Docent) of cultural interaction in history (University of Turku). My current research focuses on forced migration in Finnish history, 1920-2020. In 2017-2021 I was the PI of the multidisciplinary research project 'Recognition and belonging: forced migrations, troubled histories and memory cultures' (ReBel, funded by the Academy of Finland). The research team also collaborated with a group of artists on war, refugees and memory and produced two art and historical exhibitions in 2020. I have also published on gender history, particularly on women in Protestant missions and on gendered stereotypes.
